This line from T S Eliot’s 1925, The Wasteland, holds true 100 years later. In the face of rising authoritarianism around the world, we are experiencing the suppression of opposition voices and valid protest. It’s difficult to remain positive when ecosystems collapse and oligarchies take control of political process. My work is a reflection on this moment, using tattered felt overlaid with upcycled sequins and embellishments as a reminder to try and find some trace of beauty in these dark days.
