The bentART committee is excited to have two talented young curators this year, one for each exhibition. Amelia will curate and place artworks on the walls of the online virtual gallery while Jacob will be tasked with the curation and hanging of the in-person public exhibition to be held at the REX-Livingston Gallery in Katoomba. Each will bring their own fresh approach to the exhibitions.
Jacob Appleton (he/him) is an emerging curator. Born and raised in the Blue Mountains, Jacob has worked in art ecologies across Melbourne, Sydney, and regional NSW. Passionate about community projects, public programming and artist-run initiatives, Jacob is due to graduate with a Master of Curation and Cultural Leadership at UNSW, Sydney this August. Lizzy Marshall – curator, art educationalist, exhibition manager and a writer will be mentoring Jacob during this process and the committee thanks her for her valuable time.
Amelia Tracey (she/her) is an honours graduate of the University of Sydney College of the Arts. Amelia has exhibited her own work in Sydney and Melbourne and has enjoyed a role in curating bentART in the past – both in the physical and online galleries. Amelia is honoured to be invited back for another year to curate the online virtual gallery.
